One Health Approach
People & Environment Action (PEA) promotes the One Health Approach by strengthening the connection between human health, animal health, and environmental sustainability to improve community resilience and well-being.
People & Environment Action (PEA) implements One Health initiatives that recognize the strong interconnection between human health, animal health, and the environment. Our programs promote integrated and collaborative approaches to address public health risks, environmental challenges, and livestock-related vulnerabilities affecting communities, particularly pastoralist populations.
PEA supports community-based interventions including zoonotic disease awareness, veterinary outreach services, environmental health promotion, hygiene and sanitation activities, climate resilience initiatives, and integrated health education campaigns. We work closely with communities, local authorities, health professionals, and livestock experts to strengthen prevention, preparedness, and response mechanisms for health and environmental challenges.
Our One Health programs prioritize vulnerable pastoralist and rural communities whose livelihoods and well-being are closely linked to livestock and natural resources. Through coordinated and sustainable approaches, PEA contributes to healthier communities, resilient ecosystems, and improved livelihoods across Ethiopia.
